EXECUTIVE TEAM

Andy grew up on the South Bay beaches between Palos Verdes and Manhattan Beach, participating in every sport imaginable including surfing, paddling, swimming, diving, volleyball and water polo.

But on November 28, 1974, he was asked to attend a USC football practice with a seventh grade classmate, John Demirjian, and his father, Ed, who was a Trojan quarterback in the ‘50’s. On that day, Andy met several players including Pat Haden and coaches such as John McKay.

Two days later, the Trojans, led by Anthony Davis made an incredible comeback to beat Notre Dame, 55-24, after trailing 24-0 in the first half and the football bug had bitten Andy.  That passion remains strong some 40 years later.

Andy went on to become a ball boy in the L.A. Coliseum for both USC and UCLA where he also served under Dick Vermeil and Terry Donahue on the Bruins’ home sideline and for legendary coaches like Bill Walsh, John Robinson, Don James and Ara Parseghian on the visitors’ side.

He graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 1979 and signed a Letter of Intent with Bill Parcells at the United States Air Force Academy.  It was there that more great coaches influenced his life, including Ken Hatfield, Fisher DeBerry and Chan Gailey to name a few.

After a few too many concussions while playing safety, wide receiver and punt returner, Andy lost his pilot qualification and subsequently transferred to Cal where Roger Theder, who had hired innovator Mouse Davis, was installing his Run and Shoot offense.

Andy eventually played and graduated from Cal before brief stops in the USFL (San Antonio Gunslingers) and NFL (San Diego Chargers).  He quickly learned, however, that he was not good enough to play professionally.

After being cut by the Chargers, he began a broadcasting career as a correspondent for Network 10 Australia and as a Beach Sports, Surf and Weather reporter for KLOS radio in Los Angeles.

After realizing that he was not a very good broadcaster, he took his sports life lessons and began what is Student Sports today (see History).

He is married to Megan and they live in Palos Verdes with their three children, Danika, Bryce and Slader.
