DA U18 Recap: Dwindling undefeateds

In a matter of a few hours Saturday, three teams were knocked from the ranks of the undefeated, and for two it cost them first place in the division.

FC Dallas, Shattuck-St. Mary’s and Albertson SC all suffered their first defeats of the season. FC Dallas dropped from first to second in the division. Albertson had a chance to overtake first, but its loss left it in a tie for second. Shattuck-St. Mary’s remains in first in its division, but the lead is not as large.

The following are highlights from this past weekend:

East

Leading the Way: Northeast - 1. New York Red Bulls (5-0-1, 2.67), 2. Albertson SC (5-1-3, 2.200) and Montreal Impact (4-2-0, 2.00). Atlantic - 1. PDA (8-0-1, 2.78); 2. Bethesda-Olney (7-1-0, 2.63). Southeast - 1. Capital Area RailHawks (8-0-2, 2.60), 2. Carolina Rapids (9-1-1, 2.55).

Who’s Hot: Capital Area RailHawks and Carolina Rapids each won last week to remain 1-2 in the Southeast, and the wins pushed them both higher in the overall standings. The RailHawks are tied for fifth while the Rapids are tied for eighth.

Sunday
Benjamin Harris scored three goals as North Carolina Fusion routed IMG Academy 5-0. … Desmond Toal scored twice to lead Charlotte Soccer Academy to a 3-2 win over Orlando City. … Capital Area RailHawks and Chargers SC played to a scoreless tie. … Heikel Jarras netted four goals as Montreal Impact handled BSC CT Academy 6-1. … Seacoast United got goals from three players in a 3-1 win over New England Revolution. … PA Classics and DC United played to a 2-2 draw. … Anthony Mandola scored the game-tying goal as NJSA 04 defeated Continental FC DELCO 3-2. … Kelvin Davis scored twice as Baltimore Bays Chelsea defeated Richmond Kickers 3-1. … Matthew Ledder scored twice as Bethesda-Olney defeated Richmond Strikers 4-3.

Saturday
Anthony Viteri and Derrick Etienne scored second-half goals to help New York Red Bulls to a 2-0 win over Albertson SC in a battle of undefeated teams. … BW Gotschee and FC Bolts Celtic played to a 2-2 draw. … Daniel Davis scored the only goal as Capital Area RailHawks defeated IMG Academy 1-0. … Three players scored as Carolina Rapids defeated South Carolina United Battery 3-0.

Central

Leading the Way: Frontier - 1. Colorado Rush (5-2-0, 2.14), 2. FC Dallas (5-1-2, 2.13). Mid-America: 1. Shattuck-St. Mary’s (9-1-1, 2.55), 2. Chicago Fire (7-1-3, 2.18).

Who’s Hot: Chicago Fire won a pair of weekend matches to move back into second place in the Mid-America Division.
