DA U18 Recap: Carolina Rapids start to rise

A six-match undefeated streak has pulled the Carolina Rapids back into the thick of the Southeast Division race.

This past weekend, the Rapids, now 8-1-1, defeated Chargers SC and IMG Academy, pushing its streak to 5-0-1 since a loss to frontrunner Capital Area RailHawks.

David Lozano scored twice in the win over Chargers SC.

Leading the Way: Frontier - 1. FC Dallas (5-0-1, 2.67), 2. Colorado Rush (4-1-0, 2.40). Mid-America: 1. Shattuck-St. Mary’s (8-0-1, 2.78), 2. Chicago Magic PSG (6-2-1, 2.11).

Who’s Hot: Although Sockers FC stands in a third-place tie in the Mid-America Division, its win over second-place Chicago Magic PSG this past weekend has tightened the race from second to fourth.

Sunday
Matthew Swift and Christopher Mueller staked Sockers FC to a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 win over Chicago Magic PSG. … Dallas Texans posted a 2-0 win over Texans SC Houston. … Elochukwu Ozumba scored twice in the final five minutes as Houston Dynamo rallied for a 2-2 tie with Lonestar SC.

Leading the Way: Northwest - 1. Crossfire Premier (7-0-2, 2.56) and. De Anza Force (7-0-2, 2.56). Southwest - 1. Real Salt Lake-AZ (4-0-0, 3.00), 2. LA Galaxy (5-1-1, 2.29).

Who’s Hot: De Anza Force pulled into a tie for first in the Northwest Division with Crossfire Premier, which was idle last week.
