DA U16 Recap: Southeast heats up

Losses by Kendall SC and Weston FC allowed Orlando City to overtake their Florida rivals in the Southeast Division race, one that’s really heating up.

Right now, six teams have winning records in the division, and the recent wins by No. 4 Georgia United and No. 5 Concorde Fire over the teams tied for second shows that the race is wide open.

The following are highlights from this past weekend:


Leading the Way: Northeast – 1. New York Red Bulls (5-0-0, 3.00), 2. Albertson SC (6-2-0, 2.25). Atlantic – 1. PA Classics (6-0-1, 2.71), 2. PDA (8-1-0, 2.67). Southeast – 1. Orlando City (7-2-0, 2.33), 2. Kendall SC (6-2-1, 2.11) and Weston FC (6-2-1, 2.11).

Who’s Hot: New York Red Bulls are the only remaining team with a perfect record.

Ricardo Aguilar and Jeremy Kelly scored to lead Capital Area RailHawks to a 2-0 win over North Carolina Fusion. … Thomas Traynham’s fifth-minute goal was the difference as Concorde Fire edged Kendall SC 1-0. … Qur’an Thomas scored the lone goal as Georgia United defeated Weston FC 1-0. … Kevin Lynch’s first-half goal carried Charlotte Soccer Academy past IMG Academy 1-0. … Chargers SC received goals from four players in a 4-1 win over Carolina Rapids. … Barry Sharifi scored three goals as Albertson SC handled Revolution Empire 7-1. … Chaz Burnett’s 80th minute goal gave PDA a 3-2 win over Philadelphia Union. Who’s Hot: LA Galaxy remains the lone undefeated team in the West Conference.
