DA U16 Recap: LA’s scoring frenzy

Cesar Murrillo scored three goals to stake Pateadores to a 3-0 lead Saturday, but gave it all back in a 3-3 tie with LA Galaxy.

The result knocked LA Galaxy from first place in the Southwest Division, which is now held by Real Salt Lake-AZ.

After Murrillo scored his third goal, Galaxy’s Dylan Smith scored twice and Jorge Ruiz added the tying goal — all in a span of 14 minutes.

LA Galaxy is 4-0-3 and remains one of seven teams still undefeated in the Under-15/16 Development Academy.

Leading the Way: Northeast - 1. New York Red Bulls (4-0-0, 3.00), 2. Albertson SC (5-2-0, 2.14). Atlantic - 1. PA Classics (6-0-1, 2.71), 2. PDA (7-1-0, 2.63). Southeast - 1. Kendall SC (6-1-0, 2.57), 2. Weston FC (5-1-1, 2.29).

Who’s Hot: The Atlantic Division — PA Classics, PDA and Philadelphia Union all have playoff averages of 2.57 or higher, meaning all three are in the Top 5 overall in the Academy. PA Classics at 2.71 is second overall, PDA at 2.63 is third and Philadelphia Union’s 2.57 is tied for fifth.

Sunday
Malik Stewart scored the lone goal as NJSA 04 defeated Baltimore Bays Chelsea 1-0. … PA Classics and Match Fit played to a 1-1 tie. … BSC CT Academy defeated BW Gottschee 3-0. … Everton FC Westchester defeated Revolution Empire 2-1. … Bethesda-Olney and Virginia Rush played to a 1-1 draw.

Saturday
Cameron Harr scored three goals to carry PDA to a 4-0 win over Continental FC DELCO. … Jonas Taenzer scored both goals as Seacoast United upended FC Bolts Celtic 2-1. … Abu Winter scored twice to lead Philadelphia Union to a 3-1 win over DC United. … Cormac Begley scored in the 26th minute to lead Orlando City to a 1-0 win over Chargers SC. … Sebastian Garcia Herreros scored the lone goal as Weston FC defeated IMG Academy 1-0. … Marcelo Malpartida netted the only goal as South Carolina United Battery downed Charlotte Soccer Academy 1-0. … Georgia United went up 2-0 and held it for a 2-1 win over Carolina Rapids.

Central

Leading the Way: Frontier - 1. FC Dallas (4-0-1, 2.60), 2. Lonestar SC (2-0-2, 2.00). Mid-America: 1. Chicago Magic PSG (6-2-0, 2.25), 2. Scott Gallagher-Mo. (6-1-2, 2.22).

Who’s Hot: FC Dallas collected four of a possible six weekend points, good enough to maintain its lead in the Frontier Division over fellow undefeated Lonestar SC.

Sunday
Nicholas Hamalainen and Daniel Kiser scored to lead FC Dallas to a 2-0 win over Colorado Rush. … Solar Chelsea benefitted from an own goal to beat Real Colorado 1-0. … Sporting Kansas City and Texans SC Houston played to a scoreless tie, as did the Colorado Rapids and Houston Dynamo. …

Who’s Hot: Real Salt Lake-AZ has climbed to first place in the Southwest Division in front of a pair of undefeated teams, despite having a loss.
