DA U18 Recap: SSM states its case for No. 1

Shattuck-St. Mary’s delivered a weekend sweep of the Chicago Fire and Chicago Magic PSG to remain undefeated and now a clear No. 1 in the Mid-America Division.

SSM will move up in this week’s StudentSports.com DA U18 Top 10, where it was No. 7 last week.

Elsewhere, few top teams were in action this past weekend, meaning most of the results altered the standings from third to last place.

Who’s Hot: Montreal Impact, which got a late start relative to other East Conference teams, pinned a 5-0 defeat on the New England Revolution on Sunday to send notice they could be a challenger in the Northeast Division. The team is currently in third place.

Kamil Pruszko delivered the match-winning goal in the 79th minute as BW Gottschee defeated Revolution Empire 1-0. … Five players scored as Montreal Impact defeated the New England Revolution 5-0. … PDA held off DC United 2-1. … Concorde Fire routed Orlando City 6-1. … Everton FC Westchester and Oakwood played to a 1-1 tie. … FC Bolts Celtic and Albertson SC played to a 3-3 tie.

Tarik Klancevic and Gil Topaz scored in the first half to stake the Richmond Strikers to a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 win over Continental FC DELCO. … Drew Mahoney and Noah Blodget scored to give PA Classics a 2-1 win over the Richmond Kickers. … Paul Ille scored a pair of goals as the Concorde Fire defeated South Carolina United Battery 6-0. … Donald Mason and William Ramirez scored to lead the Capital Area RailHawks to a 2-1 win over Charlotte SA. … Preston Firnstahl’s first minute goal stood up as Virginia Rush stunned Baltimore Bays Chelsea 1-0. … Weston, which had scored four goals in five previous matches, exploded for seven in a 7-2 victory over Chargers SC. Who’s Hot: It’s hard not to saddle Shattuck-St. Mary’s with this honor again this week. The Minnesota program swept a pair of Chicago frontrunners to distance itself from the pack in the Mid-America Division.

Who’s Hot: Nomads win over San Diego moved this SoCal team into a fourth-place tie, just on the heels of third-place LA Galaxy.

The Vancouver Whitecaps edged San Juan SC 1-0.
