DA U18 Recap: PDA wins behind Knudson, White

If the PDA scoring line looks familiar, that’s not a mistake.

Brian White scored twice and Zach Knudson added a goal as the New Jersey squad bested Virginia Rush 3-1 on Saturday.

The win moves PDA to 6-0 on the season.

White and Knudson each have seven goals, and one or the other — or both — have scored in all but one match this season.

The following are other highlights from this past weekend:

East

Leading the Way: Northeast - 1. Albertson SC (4-0-2, 2.33) and New York Red Bulls (2-0-1, 2.33). Atlantic - 1. PDA (6-0-0, 3.00); 2. Bethesda-Olney (4-1, 2.40). Southeast - 1. Capital Area RailHawks (5-0-1, 2.67), 2. Carolina Rapids (4-1-1, 2.17).

Who’s Hot: Oakwood SC stayed on the heels of the Northeast Division frontrunners after a draw with first-place Albertson SC. Oakwood is 3-0-3, and currently in third place.

Sunday
Baltimore Bays Chelsea and PA Classics played to a 1-1 draw.

Saturday
Dennis Zapata scored both goals only six minutes apart as Orlando City rallied for a 2-1 win over Kendall SC. … Hunter Allen snapped a 2-2 match with an 83rd minute goal to lead North Carolina Fusion to a 3-2 win over Charlotte Soccer Academy. … Ben Derleth’s 53rd minute strike gave Revolution Empire a 2-1 win over FC Bolts Celtic. … Matthew Vasquenza scored twice as Oakwood SC and Albertson SC played to a 3-3 draw. Oakwood appeared headed for victory after Logan Gdula scored in the 85th minute for a 3-2 advantage, but Jeongho Ahn answered for Albertson in stoppage time. … IMG Academy and Chargers SC ended in a 2-2 draw. Carolina Rapids and South Carolina United Battery played to a 1-1 tie.

Central

Leading the Way: Frontier - 1. Colorado Rush (3-0-0, 3.00) and FC Dallas (2-0-0, 3.00). Mid-America: 1. Shattuck-St. Mary’s (6-0-1, 2.71), 2. Chicago Magic PSG (5-0-1, 2.67) and Chicago Fire (5-0-1, 2.67).

Who’s Hot: Shattuck-St. Mary’s collected four of a possible six points over the weekend, but it was enough to keep this Minnesota squad in first place in the Mid-America Division.

Sunday
Mark Segbers, Shane Strunk and Austin Panchot scored to lead Scott Gallagher-Mo. to a 3-2 win over Minnesota Thunder Academy. … Shattuck-St. Mary’s surrendered two goals in the first eight minutes but rallied for a 2-2 draw with Scott Gallagher-Metro. … Andrew Grabavoy scored twice to help Chicago Magic PSG to a 3-1 win over FC Wisconsin Nationals.

Saturday
Rahim Omar and Nathan Bergstrom scored second-half goals to carry Minnesota Thunder Academy past Scott Gallagher-Metro 2-0. … Abdulla Al-Kalisy scored the lone goal as Shattuck-St. Mary’s defeated Scott Gallagher-Mo. 1-0. … Jordan Shankle scored the game-winner and Caleb Smith added a clinching goal in the 90th minute as Solar Chelsea pulled away for a 3-1 win over San Antonio Scorpions. … Texas Rush and Dallas Texans settled on a 2-2 draw.

West

Leading the Way: Northwest - 1. Vancouver Whitecaps (6-1-0, 2.57), Crossfire Premier (5-0-2, 2.43) and De Anza Force (5-0-2, 2.43). Southwest - 1. Real Salt Lake-AZ (3-0-0, 3.00) and Real So Cal (2-0-0, 3.00).

Who’s Hot: De Anza Force. The team’s 2-1 win over San Juan SC lifted the squad into a tie for second place in the Northwest Division.
