Over 375 of the West Coast’s top high school football descended on Redondo Union High School for the first stop of 2014.  With NFL legends Willie McGinest, Antonio Pierce and Curtis Conway joining the NFTC Coaching crew, the stars where out in L.A.

The Opening 2014 Invites

QB – Josh Rosen – St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.)
The coveted Rosen lived up to the billing on Sunday taking home QB MVP honors in the uber-talented group, and in the process earning an invite to the 2014 Elite 11 Finals at The Opening 2014. Rosen through for 3,000 yards and 27 TD’s to lead the Braves to the #3 spot in the FAB50 National Rankings.

John Houston Jr.

QB Josh Rosen (St. John Bosco)

WR – Christian Kirk – Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.)
Kirk locked down a second invite to The Opening after a good showing at the event last year. Kirk impressed on the field as well as in testing, where the 5-11, 197 lber had a 4.54 40, 4.37 shuttle, 40.5″ vert and 37′ Powerball for a 116.58 SPARQ Rating. Kirk had 1,164 yards receiving and 17 TD’s  with another 825 yards and 17 TD’s rushing this season.

LB – John Houston Jr – Serra (Gardena, Calif.)
After nearly locking down an invite as an underclassmen, Houston left no doubt as a junior. The 6-3, 211 pounder has an unmatched frame for a high school ‘backer and showed elite feet covering receivers in space.  Houston showed he’s the total package on Sunday.

DL – Keisean Lucier-South – Orange Lutheran (Calif.)
The lone linemen invite of the day absolutely dominated.  Not sure he lost a rep throughout the day.  Had questions  about lateral quickness, but he erased those with a 4.4 shuttle and some absolute ankle breakers in 1on1’s.  By checking off all the boxes, Lucier-South earned a ticket to The Opening.
